Some Beauty Tips Are Plain Stupid

I come across quite a few beauty tips that make me really wonder if the writer has actually tried out what she is proposing. (And if she has whether she is two pennies short of a shilling).

Now I know magazines have to be filled up with new features every month but really that's no excuse for telling readers to do something that is just plain silly.

Here are a few I came across this week :-

rinse brunette hair with brewed coffee after leaving it to cool. (Can you think of anything worse than pouring cold coffee over your head and do you really want to smell like a mobile version of Starbucks?)
wear lipstick in place of blusher if you run out (I mean, really, have you tried that? Did it work for you????)
mix 150g of dried milk powder with 85g of cocoa powder and add to your bath water (I though a bath was supposed to get you clean. I know it will be diluted a lot but still - chocolate in the bath????)

Then there are all the latest trends from the catwalks (it being London and Milan Fashion weeks lately). Please don't tell us that is what we should be wearing because even the models with their beautiful faces don't look good in half of them (like orange eyeshadow this year seen at a few shows!)

I still enjoy reading all the tips though. It's just that I shake my head at times LOL

I Feel Really Sorry For Makeup Companies

Though I think it would be fantastic to work with makeup all day, I do feel a bit sorry for makeup companies.

With so much competition out there and every product more desirable than the last, it must be a Herculean task to make their products something that beauty writers sit up and take notice of.

How many brown or blue eye shadows is it possible to create after all? There are many shades of blue and brown, of course and various textures but nothing truly new.

I guess, it nearly always boils down to the packaging and that is where companies can really go to town and make us get out our wallets for something that is really not that much different inside.

But what would you do with it? I'd actually be tempted never to use it and just to have it in my makeup bag so I could admire the thing every day.

Go Natural with Argan Oil Conditioner

Go natural and save a ton! I just found out that the Moroccan oil that my hair stylist wanted me to try this month has a lot of chemical ingredients rather than being pure oil.

Though she didn't say that it was 100% natural, I wasn't expecting it to have all of these chemicals in it and very little of the effective Argan oil ingredient, which seems to be a very effective conditioner

Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Cyclomethicone, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Argania Spinoza Kernel Oil (Argan Oil), Linseed Extract (Linum Usitatissimum), Fragrance (Supplement), D&C Yellow 11, D&C Red 17, Coumarin, Benzyl Benzoate, Alpha Isomethyl Ionone

Some of these things are pretty suspect and I don't want them on my hair especially as it's a product that you leave on rather than wash out.

You can buy pure argan oil, which is expensive but you need very little to make a difference to your hair. Just comb a few drops into wet hair after washing and dry as usual.
